1. Which 21st Century Skills do you feel this assignment addresses, and why? For this project we mainly had to use information and communication skills. This was a three week long video project, where we had to come up with an ad to try and stop kids from vaping. We both had to find information on why vaping was bad for you, and edit a video with new technology. A part of the project was to convince people to stop vaping, so we had to communicate with the audience in an effective way. 2. What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why? I am proud of how my group did not wait until the last minute to do this project. We knew we would have to get video clips from different days and edit all of it, so we made sure to start early. This took a lot of the pressure off and gave us enough time to make the video turn out the way we wanted it to. 3. How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skills with this assignment? During this project we learned a lot about video editing and communicating with an audience to get your point across. We learned new tricks on iMovie that made the video look a lot better than it normally does, and how to plan a video ad. We also practiced our communication skills, because half of the grade was based upon if it was convincing or not. 4. What was most difficult about completing this task? The hardest part of this project was choosing an idea for a them. We had a couple at first, but none of them seemed to interesting. There were also a couple of ideas that were really cool, but we couldn't end up doing because we had limited time and resources. In the end the idea that we chose turned out pretty good and helped to get our point across. 5. How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do different? If I could redo this project I would probably try to add some more effective information in an interesting way. It was hard for us to decide how to add the information, so in the end we just did a voice over. I think if we displayed it differently it could have made the video more entertaining and engaging. 6. How does this relate to what you have learned in the past? This related to the whole unit that we had learned right before this project. For about two or three weeks we did a unit on vaping and the effects on your body. We took the information from those lessons and put it into our videos. I have also done other video projects, so I used some of those skills to help edit this video. 7. How can you apply this to future learning? Throughout the editing part of of the project I learned a lot of new tricks to use on iMovie. Now if I ever have to make another video for school, I will be able to use what I learned from this to make the videos even better. I also learned a lot about marketing int he form of videos, which can help me anytime I am trying to convince people of an idea.
