1. Which 21st Century Skills do you feel this assignment addresses, and why? I think that we mostly used Informational skills for this project. We used that skill because we had to find information on each part of the cell. We also had to find what the cell looked like so we could create it our self. We also used a little bit of Thinking and Problem Solving skills. That is because we had to come up with the way we were going to represent the cell. 2. What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why? My favorite part of this assignment, was what I used to make the cell. I did a lot of research and thinking to find the perfect candy/food for each thing. Once I figured out what I was going to use I went to the store and got what I didn't have already. 3. How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skills with this assignment? When I had to find information on the different parts of the cell I had to look up the information, and by doing that I got practice finding information more efficiently. I also had to think a lot and then problem solve when I had to find what I was going to use for the parts of the cell. Basically for any type of 21st Century Skill the more you use and practice them, the more you learn and improve. 4. What was most difficult about completing this task? Even though I said my ideas for the parts of the cell were my favorite part, it was still hard to figure it out. It took me a little bit to figure out my end result. Even once I knew what I had to get it was still hard to find what I needed. 5. How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do differently? If I could redo the project I wouldn't even do the jello/candy cell. I would think of something else that is more unique. The main reason I did a jello cell was because I have done them before, so I knew kind of what I should do. Because of that I would probably make a replica cell out of non-food materials and make it look like a normal cell, just bigger. 6. How does this relate to what you have learned in the past? In 5th and 7th grade we learned about the cell, and did similar projects, so those helped. In those grades we just learned about different parts of the cell, and different kinds of cells. For this project we focused more on the stuff inside a cell, instead of what the overall cell does. 7. How can you apply this to future learning? This will help in all my future science classes. Also knowing how to make stuff out of food successfully is a big part of life. Lastly, because I did this project I got more practice with doing projects, hence learning and improving on projects (practice makes perfect).
