ELA Project
1. Which 21st Century Skills do you feel this assignment addresses, and why? For this project we used Self Directional skills, and Communication skills. We had to use Self Directional skills because we had to make sure that we got the project done on time. We would have a due date usually one week after it was assigned, so we had to remind ourselves to do it. We also used Communication skills because we had to present some of the parts of the project. We are also going to present a big slideshow at the end of the project. 2. What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why? I am most proud of the I am from poem. This was a poem about our childhood. Each stanza had to have the phrase I am from in it. To make this more that just a poem I added some pictures. I didn't want to add too much and make it overwhelming . I also liked my narrative. This had to be about a major event in our life. I wrote about the time that fireworks shot at me and my family instead of up. I thought my writing was really good in this essay. 3. How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skills with this assignment? I improved on my communication and self directional skills. I did this by communicating with other classmates by presenting my work. The only thing that we really got to talk about was our six word memoir. We got to go around the room reading and explaining why we chose what we wrote. I improved upon my self directional skills by making sure I didn't procrastinate and do my work on time. 4. What was most difficult about completing this task? The hardest part for me were the open entries. These weren't hard because of the work, it was coming up with ideas. For the first one I made a small photo album with four pictures, and a short poem going along with each of them. Making it probably only took me about an hour, but coming up with the idea took a day. It was the same for my second one. In the end I think both of them turned out pretty good, and I got a 100%. 5. How could you improve this work? If you could start over , what would you do different? If I could redo this project, I would probably check over my work a couple more times for bad grammar and spelling. I would also try to take more time on writing the essays and thinking more carefully about what I am saying. Lastly I would think of a better idea than a bucket list for one of the open entries. I would try a lot think of something that represented me a little bit more. 6. How does this relate to what you have learned in the past? All the writing I have done in the past years has helped me be a better writer. So every time a write a paper, I will write a better one next time. Also this project was all about my life and what I have done and learned. 7. How can you apply this to future learning? Like I said before every time you write something your writing gets better. Also I will be better at presenting because like writing the more you do it the better you get. So now I will be more confident when I have to present in front of a group of people and classmates.
