For my midterm in my creative media class, we had to write an essay. This essay was about a topic that we had read about in the War of Art. We had to take that topic and show how that would help us better ourselves, and then write about a plan of action to achieve it. I chose the topic of procrastination. This part of the book really resonated with me, and many others in the class. I really like how it talked about how everyone always just waits for Monday to start, but why not now. Why is tomorrow any better than now. Throughout the essay, I explained how procrastination has affected my life and how I have tried to avoid it. I then explained, in detail, my steps on how I will counteract it. I talked about writing in a planner, starting my assignments as soon as I get them, and writing that they are due a day earlier than they actually are. The most ironic thing about the assignment though, is that I wrote the paper the night before it was due. I used my communication skills to explain to my teacher how I was going to stop procrastinating too much. We also then had to present to the class a little bit about what we wrote. I explained how even though procrastination may seem like a bad thing if it was so bad, why would we always procrastinate? I actually thought of that question because I had procrastinated writing that paper. I realized that procrastination can lead to some of my best work. The time limit and not being able to work on it later really makes me work hard at the moment.
